This is an article taken from The Straits Times, Saturday, 6 December 2008.

An average human spends about one-third of his life sleeping, so it’s no surprise home owners are big on bedroom decor.

The article describes some tips on bedroom design, and explains why some items are recommended for a good night’s sleep.

The 6th DBSS Site

Another DBSS site in Tao Payoh, and judging from the site map, it seems to be in quite a good location. My only gripe would be that it is already in a relatively crowded estate with nothing but HDB flats all around.

The site is located at Lorong 1A Toa Payoh which is in a mature estate, just minutes away from the Toa Payoh Town Centre with its MRT station and bus interchange. Residents can enjoy easy access to many amenities, such as shops, park, schools, swimming complex, sports hall and stadium.

The tender has been awarded to Hoi Hup Realty Pte Ltd, Sunway Developments Pte Ltd and Hoi Hup JV Development Pte Ltd. More information will be available when the project is launched.

This project will have to beat the price range and my good impression of Natura Loft for me to consider it.

Park Central

We visited the showflat for the DBSS site at Ang Mo Kio Street 52 some time back. In fact, it was the first showflat that we visited. Unfortunately, it did not leave a lasting impression on us and months later, I could not even recall any details of the flat.

The beauty of city living in HDB surroundings is where time is conserved for quality family bonding. Park Central @ AMK is 4 blocks of 30-storey residential flats with 678 units of 4 and 5 room flats, complete with condo facilities, pavilions and exclusive rooftop landscapped garden with BBQ pits. Special features of the area is a 400m jogging track and for those who drive, dedicated multi-storey carparks in your own domain, which only spell class further.

I did not think it was in a very good location as there was no clear direct route to Ang Mo Kio Hub, with the town garden right smack in between. The low MRT track meant that there were only a few crossing points. However, I am only deducing this based on the site map since I am not that familiar with the area, so I might be wrong.

Anyway, it was too early for us to consider buying a flat of our own and we have yet to work out the sums, so it was purely just a visit.

We were on the topic of housing again and after some considerations, decided to apply for the DBSS flats in Bishan. It happened that today was the final day of the online application as well. It was a nice coincidence, so there were no qualms about it when we clicked on the submit button.

A designer built luxurious apartment project featuring 3 towering blocks of 4-room and 5-room DBSS public housing flats with full amenities nearby for modern urban lifestyle prestige living, and yet so close to the tranquility and peace of nature. Situated at one of the most sought after location in Singapore, surrounded by many of the Singapore’s reputed schools and flanked by a lavish array of nature retreats, ranging from parks to reservoirs, Natura Loft is your ideal choice to fulfil your dreams of enjoying the best of both worlds.

Enjoy all the perks of public housing and at the same time a prestige lifestyle similar to condominium living.

Some pictures taken from the website of Natura Loft.

Here are the layout plans from the brochure, particularly the 4-room ones which we are interested in.

The quoted price range is from $465000 to $586000, or about $450 to $570 psf. I would consider it to be quite reasonable taking into consideration the location, and of course it comes fully renovated except for furniture. On top of that, most of the floor area are livable spaces, unlike a condominium which I have seen that comes with 3 or 4 planter boxes.

Another most important factor for me is that the carpark for residents will be built under the flats, which means that my precious motorbikes will probably be sheltered. To cut a long story short, the apartment meets all of my housing criteria.

The main drawback would only be the price.
